Amasra is a seaside resort on the Black Sea. It's population is normally 6,000, though this explodes in the summer to around 25,000. Most summer holiday-goers are from Istanbul or Ankara. The best time to visit may be in September, after the crowds have left.

Best view of the city could be seen in Bakacak Tepesi (Hill).You should go to Kuşkayası which is the only road monument from Roman period in Anatolia is located just a few km away from the town.. Inside walled town, there are several historical gates decorated with Genoese coat of arms. Also, Fatih Camii, a former church that has been transformed into mosque after Amasra was conquered by Mehmet II, should be visited.
